Who is eligible?
The competition is open to all third and fourth-year apprentices in Western Australia between 1 January 2025 and 31 December 2025.

You’ll need your employer /host employer to confirm your availability.
All nominations must be received by COB 4pm on Friday, 23 May 2025.
Theoretical assessment
Once your nomination is submitted, you’ll be invited to attend a theoretical assessment session online on Tuesday, 3 June 2025, between 7.30am and 9.30am.
You’ll be asked a series of questions to assess your technical and general knowledge.
Panel interview
After the theory assessment, the participants will progress to the interview stage, with interviews being held on Wednesday, 4 June and Thursday, 5 June 2025 at our Head Office in Welshpool.
All participants are required to submit:
- A letter of support from your employer or supervisor
- Any other references from work-related contacts such as clients, suppliers and colleagues
The top 12 candidates then progress to the final practical assessment.
Practical assessment
The twelve finalists are required to attend the competition day on Thursday, 26 June 2025 at Welshpool Campus and will compete in a full-day practical project, judged by 4 industry professionals.
Finalists will compete for points by completing practical activities across multiple areas including:
- Water supply
- Gasfitting
- Welding and brazing
- Sanitary plumbing
- General plumbing
2025 NextGen Skills & Ascora Job Management Plumbing Apprentice Training and Employment Awards Night.
Finalists will be expected to attend the official awards presentation on Saturday, 13 September 2025 at the BelleVue Ballroom 2, Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre.
